COVID REGULATIONS

The DVSA (Government) seem very clear that the MOT System will carry on as normal during this next lockdown period. Vehicles MUST be MOT’d if used on public roads and no extensions will be given to any vehicles as a result of the new restrictions.

With this in mind, we would like to assure our customers that Hopton Park MOT Station will remain open throughout this period and will be conducting MOT testing as usual.

We have the relevant measures in place to care for the safety of our customers while visiting our premises during these worrying and chaotic times.

WHEN SHOULD I GET AN MOT?

The MOT on your vehicle is due on the third anniversary of registration or the anniversary of it's last MOT test if it is more than 3 years old. Some vehicles, such as ambulances, taxis & those with more than 9 seats, are required to go through their MOT on the first anniversary.

The MOT lasts for a year and this date will be visible on your last MOT printout. You can get an MOT up to a month (minus a day) before it runs out and keep the same renewal date. You can get an MOT earlier, but the renewal date for the following year will change to one year (minus a day) from the date the vehicle last passed its MOT.

Please remember that if your MOT has expired, you will not be able to apply for vehicle tax and will be required to declare your vehicle as SORN. You will need your vehicle to pass it's MOT before reapplying for vehicle tax. While delcared SORN, you cannot park on the road but are able to drive it to a garage for repairs or to your MOT test centre.
